OVERVIEW
Little League International offers up to 6 levels of All-Star ("tournament") play in Little League Baseball® and up to 5 within Little League Softball®. In 2024, Fleet Park Little League "FPLL" will field all 6 baseball levels; softball will participate through Azalea Little League.

Most tournaments are double elimination format and apply to league age players 7-16 years-old. League age 7-8 year-olds compete at the District level (D-8). The 8-10 year-old Tournament starts at D-8 and concludes at the State Level. Little League ("majors"), Little League Intermediate (50/70) Baseball, Junior League, and Senior League divisions all conclude at World Series Tournaments. See Little League Age Calculator.

TEAM SIZE

For most divisions, tournament teams have 12-15 players, 1 manager and 2 coaches. For the Senior League division, teams may have up to 16 players, 1 manager and 2 coaches.

PLAYING TIME

Playing time is given at the sole discretion of All-Star coaches. There are NO mandatory play requirements at the Senior League levels.  For Juniors and below:

  • Entire roster bats one after the other ("Continuous Batting Order") making every player a starter
  • NO FIELDING REQUIREMENT (except 7/8 Tournament that dictates 3 consecutive outs)
  • Special runners are only allowed for the pitcher or catcher with there are 2 outs.  This runner must be the player who made the last out.

SELECTION PROCESS

Once the All-Star application deadline passes:

  1. All regular season Managers gather by Division ("Division Managers"), along with the FPLL President and Player Agent
  2. The Board confirmed All Star Managers determine their total roster sizes (ex: 12)
  3. Division Managers discuss and select players, up to 2 less than total (ex: 12-2 = 10), round by round tallying votes with unanimous first, then highest subsequent rounds to fill roster spots until number is reached
  4. The final 2 roster slots are All Star Manager picks from among eligible applicants

Player selections are made based on skill, player/family character, and availability

ELIGIBILITY

Players must meet Little League’s Residency and School Attendance Player Eligibility Requirement criteria to be Tournament Play eligible.

Little League removed regular season participation requirements for the Seniors Division Tournament. Currently, FPLL allows up to 2 players who did not register for the Spring to be selection eligible provided they submit timely applications AND the Board confirmed All Star Seniors Manager uses the 2 Manager picks.

For Juniors and below, any player who participated in 8+ games of FPLL's regular season (D-8) by the Tournament Start Date in the requisite division is eligible to play (see commitment form). While this may be discretely waived for reasons of illness or injury, FPLL's Board of Directors, Managers and Coaches are committed to fair selection practices. As such, PLAYER ELIGIBILITY DOES NOT GUARANTEE SELECTION.

To be eligible for FPLL All-Star selection, both players AND parents/guardians MUST make conscious joint TEAM commitments. Practices (up to 2 per day) will begin immediately following the FPLL regular season tournament with varying times/lengths and shall continue throughout the Summer until the Team is eliminated or the Tournament concludes.
